Civil Society Engagement on SADC Protocol on Gender and Development

Theme: Strengthening gender equality and development laws across Southern Africa.

A two-day civil society engagement meeting on the SADC Protocol on Gender and Development was held from 20th to 21st January 2025 at Sunbird Lilongwe Hotel, Malawi. Organized by the Malawi Congress of Trade Unions with support from the American Solidarity Centre, the meeting aimed to lobby for the domestication and enforcement of gender-related laws, including those in Labour Law and Policy. District Entry meeting with Dedza and Ntcheu District Council leaders responsible for health and education awaiting full role out of mental health awareness campaign is to follow suit in some of the selected secondary schools

On December 17, 2024, a significant milestone was achieved in Dedza as we joined forces to champion mental health awareness among adolescents and young people in some of the selected secondary schools across Malawi.

The campaign was proudly spearheaded by PAUM, represented by President Solomon Chomba and Secretary General Daniel Nasimba, alongside key stakeholders. The Ministry of Education was represented by Joana, while Chitsazo Mafuta attended on behalf of the Ministry of Health.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to MAHECAS, the generous funder of this vital initiative. Their unwavering support is a beacon of hope in addressing mental health challenges faced by our youth.

Together, we are building a future where every young person has access to the mental health support they deserve. Let’s continue to uplift, educate, and empower! 💙

PAUM President and other members of PAUM attended the 2024 graduation ceremony at St. John's Institute for Health, where over 244 students received certificates, diplomas, and university diplomas in various health-related fields. The ceremony was led by Right Reverend Father John Ryan, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Mzuzu. The theme of the graduation was "Working Towards Achieving Universal Health Coverage.

THE PRESIDENT VISITED UNILIA 18th GRADUATION ON 18 OCT 2024

The University of Livingstonia held its 18th Graduation Ceremony on October 18, 2024, at Mzuzu Stadium. A total of 1,036 students graduated during this event, celebrating their academic achievements with pride and excitement. Among the graduates, several students were recognized for outstanding performance, with at least eight graduating with distinctions. This ceremony signifies a key milestone for the university, highlighting its commitment to academic excellence and community engagement The PAUM president represented the Org with other PAUM members and a number of students registered as members adding up to the existing number of members of PAUM.
